The painting was inspired partly by my time in Dubai and also by my late friend David Eaton.

During my stay in Dubai, I lived downtown for a while and directly outside my apartment was a huge sculpture called ‘Wings of Mexico’.  According to the sculptor, this represents people's dream of flying freely with their own bodies and consciousness, relying on desire, belief and passion. This sculpture breaks free from the shackles of the laws of physics, and invites people to surpass their limits.

Another huge inspiration for the painting was my friend Dave Eaton who passed away 11 years ago. He had a huge angel tattoo on his back with his daughter’s name above it and I wanted to somehow immortalise this into my Art. What better way than combining the interpretation of the sculpture, my favourite Artist Vincent Van Gogh and the memory of my mate, Dave.

I’d like people to take from these wings what they want, what they feel…the above is just my interpretation and feelings! I’d love to hear what you felt when you seen the painting!
